The Warriors brought back head coach Steve Kerr, and the next few years could be the “last dance” for this core.

Finally, what about the Los Angeles Clippers? James will stay in Los Angeles, and if he feels the Clippers have a better chance of winning, jumping ship could be a good option. This may be the most unexpected outcome, but staying in Los Angeles may be a priority for James.

Either way, it’s much easier to imagine the Hughes brothers playing with each other in New Jersey than it is in Minnesota.

Brown will replace Boute in the New England offense, so Boute will not be able to step up. It wouldn’t hurt for Philadelphia to acquire Bout in exchange for Brown, however.

The Eagles had high demands for Brown in March, and although the Patriots likely won’t meet them, the organization should get plenty of value. Losing Brown would be a huge loss for Philadelphia’s offense, but it appears to be the best development for both sides.

As far as the Patriots are concerned, they’ll just have to wait until June to acquire Brown.

Nick Nurse and the 76ers will look to the return of Paul George this week, especially on Wednesday. The team is 16-11 with him and 23-22 without him. In the 25 games he missed due to suspension, Philadelphia went 13–12.

This injury has been causing persistent discomfort and swelling since before the All-Star break, causing Curry to be absent for an extended period of time.

Before Saturday’s 126-110 loss to the Atlanta Hawks, the Warriors announced that Curry continued to make “good progress” in his return and has stepped up his individual workouts. Head coach Steve Kerr said over the weekend that he expected Steph to participate in 5-on-5 drills on Sunday.

Unfortunately for Curry and the Warriors, he did not participate in Sunday’s 5-on-5 drills, league sources tell ClutchPoints. However, team sources are adamant that it is not being viewed as a setback and that Curry is on the same recovery timeline that was provided on Saturday.

He is expected to continue his on-court activities and will be re-evaluated when the team returns to San Francisco after Monday night’s game in Dallas.

The Warriors have been out of an abundance of caution regarding Curry’s right knee issue, which is why he was given an extra day of practice before returning to 5-on-5 play.

As reported by ClutchPoints ahead of the team’s update on Steph’s status on Saturday, the Warriors were optimistic about Curry’s return at some point following their six-game road trip. Upon returning home, seven of the team’s final 10 games of the season will be played at Chase Center, allowing Curry to receive maximum treatment for his right knee and not require him to travel as much.

For several weeks, the Warriors have been hopeful that Steph will be able to return for at least one of their two home games against the Brooklyn Nets and Washington Wizards on March 25 and March 27, respectively.

Overall, Curry and the Warriors have insisted that he not be locked up for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. Steph wants to play again before the end of the regular season, and the team remains optimistic about its chances of being competitive in the play-in tournament with Curry, despite falling in the standings without him.

In their last 21 games without Steph, Golden State has gone 6-15, 1.5 games behind the Phoenix Suns for the 7-seed and now 1.5 games behind the Portland Trail Blazers for the 9-seed in the Western Conference.

A loss to the Mavericks on Monday night would put the Warriors in an even deeper hole as the 10-seed in the West.

During his recovery process, the Warriors remained adamant that Curry had not suffered a concussion and that his injury, described as “runner’s knee”, had resulted in prolonged pain and swelling that persisted longer than originally expected.

Erik Spoelstra on “big test” for the Heat

While the Heat absolutely want to see how well they can operate before the postseason, the team may not get enough time to see what a fully healthy Miami team looks like. Since there will be 12 games after the Lakers contest, it cannot be said for sure when Wiggins will return with Jacquez, making it difficult to evaluate the team.

Either way, Spoelstra told ClutchPoints that the “big test” is overcoming the home stretch of the season against other teams that have similar goals.

“I mean, the big test is, you know, how we raise our game and spirit and level of competition against teams that are playing for something, at least in our near future,” Spoelstra said. “And, you know, that’s when people say they’ve always wanted that, and now we have it. But we always say it’s just for the competitors, and other teams, you know, competing and bringing their best game. So it’s just a matter of facing that level of competition and finding a way to get to another level.”

At any rate, Miami looks to take the remaining games remaining in the regular season and accomplish the goal they are striving for, which is to avoid the play-in tournament. After being in the tournament for the last three seasons and finishing as the eighth seed, the Heat are looking to move up to at least sixth place.

Entering Thursday against the Lakers, Miami is 38-31, in seventh place in the East, just a half-game behind the Orlando Magic, who hold the coveted sixth spot.

The Dallas Mavericks fired Nico Harrison as general manager at the start of the 2025-26 season in November. Since then, the club has not found its official replacement. On Thursday, CEO Rick Welts provided an update on the organization’s search for a new general manager.

According to AB Jones of DLLS Sports, Welts claims the Mavericks are in no rush to find Harrison’s replacement. He also claimed that the franchise is excited to find a new general manager and that they ideally hire a new candidate before the 2026 NBA Draft.

“Not in a rush, we want to make the right decision,” Welts said. “We’re very excited about the potential candidates. I think ideally we’d like to have someone in place before the draft.”

After firing Nico Harrison, the Mavericks named Michael Finley and Matt Ricciardi co-interim general managers. This decision came shortly after Harrison traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis and some replacements. Dallas lucked out in the 2025 NBA Draft by winning the draft lottery and selecting Cooper Flagg No. 1 overall.

This season, the Mavericks have not been as competitive. The team is 23-47 with only 12 games remaining on the schedule. Dallas is in line for a high-value first-round selection in the upcoming draft to find another exciting prospect to pair with Flagg.

Things could look very different for the Mavericks next season, especially with a new general manager. Flagg, Davis, Kyrie Irving’s return from injury and an exciting rookie could be a solid group for Dallas moving forward.

The Brooklyn Nets have been without Michael Porter Jr. for the last four games, and now they are going to be without him for a while longer as he deals with a hamstring injury.

Michael Porter Jr. will be sidelined for the next two to three weeks after an MRI confirmed a left hamstring strain, according to longtime NBA insider Marc Stein. Porter was in the midst of a breakout season following a trade from the Denver Nuggets, and he attracted considerable interest in the trade market at the deadline.

The No. 14 overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft, Porter has played his entire career so far with the Nuggets. He was a key part of the team’s 2023 NBA Championship run. The Nuggets opted to trade Porter to the Nets in the offseason, giving Denver sharpshooting wing Cam Johnson.

With a larger role and more freedom offensively, Porter was among the breakout players this season. Before being sidelined, he had appeared in 52 games for the Nets, averaging a little over 32 minutes per game. He averaged career-highs of 24.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.1 steals while splitting 46.3 percent shooting from the field, 36.3 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 85.9 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

In addition to his points per game, Porter’s rebounding and assists are also career highs.

With the regular season coming to an end, the Nets are currently 17-52 and in 13th place in the Eastern Conference standings. They are on pace to receive a lottery selection in a deep and talented draft.

The Philadelphia 76ers face the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night and Joel Embiid is once again at the center of the injury report. He is listed as questionable due to a right oblique strain, putting the focus on the 76ers’ franchise star as the team looks to bounce back from the loss.

The 76ers enter the matchup at 37-32. They are ranked 9th in the Eastern Conference and are trying to stabilize their position in the playoff race. Meanwhile, Sacramento falls to 18-52. The Kings are ranked 15th in the West and continue to search for answers amid a poor season. Here’s everything we know from the injury report about Joel Embiid and his playing status against the Kings.

Detroit Pistons forward/center Isaiah Stewart recently suffered a Grade 1 left calf strain and will miss some time, the team announced Tuesday morning. Stewart is undergoing treatment and will miss at least the Pistons’ next four games.

Preparations are on to re-evaluate them in a week.

This means the Pistons will be without their defensive tackles on Tuesday and Thursday against the Washington Wizards, on Friday at home against the Golden State Warriors and on Monday, February 23 at home against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The good news for the Pistons is that it is not a significant injury, and Stewart should be able to return after resting and receiving treatment for a week or two, assuming he doesn’t suffer any setbacks in his recovery. Stewart is also the only key Pistons player to place himself on the injury report, leaving the team with options to replace his production.

However, the Pistons only have a 3.5-game lead over the Boston Celtics for the 1-seed in the Eastern Conference.

The race for the top spot in the East has suddenly become a major topic of discussion, with the Celtics adding back Jayson Tatum and winning seven of their last 10 games. On the other end, the Pistons have struggled recently, going just 3-5 in their last eight games, including a 119-108 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.

With back-to-back games against the tanking Wizards, Detroit has a clear path to two wins in a row to try to steady the ship.

Unfortunately for the Pistons, this is an injury that has been bothering Stewart for quite some time. The big man has battled a calf issue all season, and head coach JB Bickerstaff recently alluded to it following his team’s loss on Sunday.

Bickerstaff said of Stewart, “It’s something he’s dealing with. It’s getting worse.” “He gutted it out in the last game and I think you could see he was favoring it late… It’s something we’ll take our time with.”

Although Detroit announced that Stewart will be reevaluated in a week, it is fair to assume they will keep him out longer to ensure he is 100 percent before the playoffs and the end of the regular season. After all, he is instrumental in the team’s defensive identity.

Without Stewart, Paul Reed, Ron Holland II, and Javonte Green will all have increased roles off the bench. Reed has now moved into the role of backup big man behind Jalen Duren in Stewart’s absence.

In 55 games this season, Stewart has averaged 10.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game, while shooting 54.1 percent from the floor. Only he and Wizards big man Alex Sarr have recorded at least 90 blocks this season while playing less than 1,300 minutes.

Washington D.C. – While his season is over, and his return to the basketball court is still a long way off, Jimmy Butler remains in good spirits as he begins the road to recovery. The Golden State Warriors star spoke to the media for the first time since suffering a season-ending ACL injury in his right knee in late January.

“It feels like I had ACL surgery five weeks ago,” Butler said while sitting at his locker. “Overall, I’m good. Happy.”

Butler’s words matched the condition of his knee.

With his legs spread, you can see the long scar on his swollen, surgically repaired right knee, which he recently had surgery on on February 9 – a visual indication that Butler is in the early stages of a long recovery process rehabilitating a torn ACL. And those first steps of rehabilitation have not been easy.

“[It’s been] “It’s hard not being with my guys. It’s hard not being able to play the game I love,” Butler said of his last five weeks. And are not able to travel. It is difficult, but rehabilitation is going on. “We’re doing what we need to do to get back on the timeline.”

But like Butler, the always positive and introspective man he was, he maintained perspective on his situation.

“It’s not all bad, I still tell people I’m an NBA player. So I’m happy with that,” Butler said before pointing to two-way players Nate Williams and Malevi Lyons, two lockers.

“There are still some amazing guys taking advantage of their opportunity, some guys are down. That was a time in my Chicago days. So I get very happy, and smile when I see guys playing well. And then, you know, I got my family, the kids were around. And then I knew I was working my way back toward something. So it all puts you in perspective.”

Warriors’ season after Jimmy Butler’s injury

Buttler had only recently been given permission to fly due to his knee condition deteriorating following surgery, so he made it a priority to rejoin the team amid a tough six-game trip, which was a much-needed morale boost for a team struggling to stay afloat.

Golden State has gone 7-16 since Butler tore his ACL on Jan. 19 against the Miami Heat. Shortly after Butler went down, Stephen Curry did the same, suffering patellofemoral pain syndrome and a knee injury. Without their two stars, the Warriors have dropped to ninth place in the West.

And with injuries to other players on their roster, the Portland Trail Blazers are in danger of falling even lower to 10th place as they fall behind. In New York, the Warriors were facing no more than $190 million in payroll, fielding a rotation that included three two-way players and one on 10-day contracts.

After the loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Kerr said, “I remember we lost as well as any team.”

Butler’s recovery timeline

So, it is safe to say that the Warriors missed Butler a lot. But the timeline for when they’ll bring him back after he recovers from this latest injury remains to be seen.

When Butler was asked if he knew when he would be able to return, he said, “I want to come back.”

“We all know that. Obviously I can’t say when. [But] I can help my guys win some games as quickly as possible. But as you’ve probably heard me say a lot, whenever my body is ready, like this injury, for all other injuries, big, small, whenever my body is ready, I promise I’m going to try to get back out.

To get his knee back where it wants to be, Butler is attacking his rehab with a competitive edge, which is a very similar approach to Jimmy Butler’s approach to his recovery. Butler and his rehab team have a chart hanging on the wall with week-by-week goals. The goals are to bend the knee and bend it a certain number of degrees. His next goal at six weeks of rehab is to get rid of his crutches.

“So in a week, you can buy [my] Crutches,” Butler joked, pointing to one of the reporters sitting near his locker.

Charts have become Butler’s obsession in the best possible way. His livelihood was taken away in an instant. A livelihood in which competition was at the center of everything. So being able to frame his rehab like a competition allows Butler to maintain that aspect of his life.

“I see it all the time,” Butler said. “But at the same time, everything we do in rehab is about competition. You know, whether it’s today versus tomorrow. What are my numbers compared to other guys in the past. Don’t say any names, but it’s competition to see if you can be better than them. You can be better than you were yesterday. So it locks me in. Because I at least get a chance to compete that way.”

So while the scars on Butler’s knee are taking a toll on his body, his spirits remain intact. Whatever happens, as strong as ever.

“I’m just going to focus on myself and get back to being the best version of myself.”

The Chicago Bulls’ two big trade deadline acquisitions in Jaden Ivey and Anfernee Simmons have been hampered by injury issues. According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, both players are currently sidelined, and recently received updates regarding their recovery timelines.

Afnery Simmons is dealing with a left wrist injury and will be reevaluated in 10 days. Jaden Ivey has a left knee injury and is expected to be reevaluated in a week. Since the trade, Simmons has been limited to only six games and Ivey has appeared in only four games.

Both players are in the final year of their current contracts, with Simmons headed to unrestricted free agency and Ivy headed to restricted free agency.

Simmons has appeared in six games with the Bulls, including four starts, averaging a little over 28 minutes per game. He averaged 15.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists with splits of 43.8 percent shooting from the field, 32 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 100 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

Ivey appeared in four games with the Bulls, including three starts, averaging a little over 28 minutes per game. He averaged 11.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals with splits of 41.7 percent shooting from the field, 38.1 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 88.9 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

The Bulls are currently 27-40 and are in 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings. They have lost two consecutive games heading into Monday’s match against the Toronto Raptors. They are six and a half games behind the No. 10 Charlotte Hornets for the final play-in spot, which is an unexpected reality.

Tony Khan made it clear in the AEW Revolution post-show media scrum that Ronda Rousey has an open door at All Elite Wrestling. The Utah Jazz suffered their third consecutive loss after falling to the Sacramento Kings 116-111 at Golden 1 Center on Sunday. The Jazz have now lost 10 of their last 12 games.

The 21-year-old guard has already missed 11 games this season due to a hamstring strain and a recent illness.

Just as the LA Clippers got John Collins back from injury and finally healthy, they may have lost Kawhi Leonard.

Leonard left Saturday night’s game against the Sacramento Kings with a left ankle injury and was immediately taken out of the game after returning to the Clippers locker room. This was not the only injury suffered by Leonard, as the Clippers star suffered a laceration to his left eyelid after a collision with Kings star DeMar DeRozan, but he was able to return after being shut down.

Kawhi Leonard finished Saturday night’s loss with 31 points, six rebounds and two steals, while shooting 13 of 23 from the field and 2 of 6 from three, but only 3 of 6 from the free throw line in 26 minutes of play. It was the second night of a back-to-back set for the Clippers and their ninth game in the first 14 days of the month.

After the game, head coach Tyronn Lue said the team had no update on Leonard’s injury.

Kawhi Leonard is reevaluated on Sunday afternoon, and the team announced that he is questionable to play in Monday night’s game against Victor Vembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. Leonard also missed the Clippers’ home loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves on February 26 due to a left ankle injury. That game occurred during a week in which the Clippers were scheduled to play only one game – against the Wolves – in seven days.

Despite the loss, Kawhi Leonard had his 45th consecutive game of 20 or more points against the Kings, setting a new franchise record for most consecutive 20+ point games in Clippers franchise history. Leonard surpassed legend Bob McAdoo’s previous record of 44-straight, and has the second-longest active streak behind Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

On the season, Kawhi Leonard has played in 53 of the Clippers’ 67 games, averaging 28.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.1 steals per game, while playing 32.4 minutes a night. The 28.3 points per game are a career high for Leonard, the only player in NBA history with the highest career scoring average in his 14th season or later. Leonard is shooting 50.3 percent from the field, 38 percent from three and 90.6 percent from the free throw line.

The Clippers, who are 34-33 on the season, have won 28 of their last 40 games after starting the season 6-21.

The Oklahoma City Thunder received an encouraging update regarding forward Jalen Williams as he recovers from a hamstring strain.

Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault recently indicated that Williams is making progress in his rehabilitation. The update was reported Saturday by OKC Thunder Wire’s Clemente Almanza on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Williams, 24, has been sidelined since February 11. His most recent appearance came in Oklahoma City’s 136–109 win over the Phoenix Suns. In that game, Williams gave one of his most efficient performances of the season, recording 28 points, five assists and four rebounds.

He shot 11 of 12 from the field, 4 of 5 from the free-throw line and converted both of his three-point attempts during 20 minutes of play. The performance helped the Thunder earn a dominant win before Williams’ injury absence began.

Williams is currently in his fourth NBA season and remains a key part of Oklahoma City’s lineup when healthy. In 26 games this season, he has averaged 17.5 points, 5.4 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. He is shooting 47.9% from the field, 31.3% from three-point range and 83.3% from the free-throw line, while averaging 29 minutes per contest.

Even during his absence, Oklahoma City continued to grow. The Thunder finished atop the Western Conference with a 52–15 record and entered their next contest with a seven-game winning streak.

The Thunder will attempt to extend that run on Sunday when they conclude a four-game homestand against the Minnesota Timberwolves, who enter the matchup with a 41-26 record. The game is scheduled for 1:00 pm ET and will be broadcast on ABC.

Williams’ continued progress could give Oklahoma City a timely boost as the team heads toward the postseason.
